Launch of Build SL 2025
The Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka (CCI) launched the premier Build SL Housing & Construction Expo 2025 at the Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo 3, during a fitting event on the evening 4th of October 2024.
The CCI President, members of the Board of Management, Council members of the Chamber, longstanding exhibitors from previous Build SL Expos, last year’s valued sponsors, and industry leaders participated at the event.
The Build SL Expo 2025 is scheduled to be held on May 30, 31, and June 1, marking its 20th edition at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Convention Centre, BMICH.
Plaques of Appreciation were presented to all sponsors of the previous expo. Additionally, sponsors who have already confirmed their support for the forthcoming Expo handed over sponsorship cheques to the CCI President as a pledge of continued partnership.
In his speech, the President of CCI, Arch. Jayantha Perera, emphasized that the success of the construction industry was the result of the collective achievements of its stakeholders—architects, engineers, contractors, materials producers, suppliers, and other related professionals.
The CEO and Secretary General of CCI, Eng. Nissanka N. Wijeratne, noted that the Build SL 2025 launch came at a crucial time, as the construction industry was emerging from a recession that lasted four years, from 2020 to 2023. In the first two quarters of this year, the industry recorded growth rates of 14.2% and 15.5%, respectively. With foreign debt restructuring completed under the IMF program, donor-funded projects that were previously suspended are expected to resume soon.
With the anticipated increase in tourism and the recovery of the construction sector, the industry is expected to return to a strong growth trajectory in the coming months. By the time Build SL 2025 takes place, there will be significant demand for construction services and materials, ensuring the exhibition’s success.
